1972 Since 1972 since 1972, the National Women’s Law Center has been a tireless advocate for protecting and promoting the advancement of girls and women throughout their lives. In recent months, driven by the increasing polarization of the political and social environment as well as the increasing polarization of the political and social climate, this National Women’s Law Center has been a key actor in the movement to resist. From promoting crucial policies to make life better for women in low-paying employment to addressing the ongoing crises that are the Trump presidency, The National Women’s Law Center is taking on some of the nation’s most difficult issues with the help of EveryAction’s top-of-the-line non-profit tools.
I recently had a conversation with Selina Tran, Digital Strategist at the National Women’s Law Center, about how to channel this massive flow that is sweeping through the nation into actions and the way that EveryAction’s platform has been crucial to their mission.
What would you say about the goals that are the National Women’s Law Center?
ST: National Women’s Law Center has been in existence for over 45 years fighting for families and women. What makes us slightly different from other organizations is that we’re a multi-issue organization which means that our work stretches from opportunities to educate women and girls to sexual health rights,, to economic security, and protecting women and girls from discrimination and harassment at school and at work. We focus on every issue that impacts women. Our aim is to support and support women and their families at every phase of their lives by means of laws, policies in addition to public education.
With the current divisive social and political climate–from healthcare reform to tax reform, and beyond to Title IX and beyond–the National Women’s Law Center has been a major participant in fighting for justice on a myriad of topics.
What strategies do you employ in order to ensure your audiences are interested and motivated?
Particularly in this current political climate that is dominated by one issue after another, it’s important to celebrate the wins to make sure that people don’t burn out. While we bring attention to the horrible things taking place around us We also draw attention to our victories as well as the supporters who help make these victories possible.
Today more than ever before, all of the issues we focus on are interconnected and impact people on a variety of levels. It’s crucial to be aware of the links between all of these problems, and to discuss the reasons why it is important. For instance when we speak about the wage gap, it is important to overlook the fact that both gender and race discrimination play a role. It is important to highlight these issues so that people are able to feel about, understand, and ultimately decide to take action.
As a result of recent events including it appears that the National Women’s Law Center along with Americans United for Separation of Church and State have recently brought a suit against the Trump Administration for rules denying women access to birth control. The group is also making use of EveryAction tools to launch an advocacy campaign on the problem.
What’s been the reaction to your efforts from both sides?
ST The response is fantastic! We’re witnessing a lot excitement about our stance — suing to safeguard birth control coverage, and we’re very pleased with the response. We’ve seen a substantial rise in donations as a result of the lawsuit.
EveryAction has allowed us to have the capability to launch lots of these campaigns. With the help of EveryAction form, we are able to send comments directly to the administration. This is a major time-saver . It also allows supporters to make their comments directly.
The National Women’s Law Center created several EveryAction advocacy forms to address problems through regulations.gov.
What has your supporters’ response been? Are you seeing an increase in their engagement?
ST: In the past it was the National Women’s Law Center collected these responses and manually file these to the National Women’s Law Center manually. Being able to use EveryAction to focus on regulations.gov has changed the game! While it makes our lives easier to use, this also make it more convenient for our users to send feedback directly. In fact, across all Our EveryAction form forms we’ve noticed an increase in the number of responses.
The support of women in defending their rights and get legal victories that are crucial and essential. Which other Every
Action instruments or functions help women to be able to join the National Women’s Law Center to reach these objectives?
ST: The user-friendliness of EveryAction overall is really beneficial for us. We’re now able to work more quickly and more efficient. Before we switched to EveryAction it took several hours to distribute information. With EveryAction’s custom-designed forms and targeted emails, we can respond to the latest events faster quickly and easily. We also like the ability to report from EveryAction. It’s very user-friendly, and we are able to customize reports to suit our needs and provide us with a comprehensive overview of our software. I’m also amazed by the speed at which we can create an email and then run an inquiry. It’s not even mentioning how simple to create advocacy goals within EveryAction. In the end, we’re much more efficient!
On the other hand, on the end of the user I’ve received a number of positive feedback. Prior to making the switch to EveryAction we received many emails from users who were frustrated by needing to fill in an entire donation form each one time. With FastAction We have the benefit of pre-filled form fields that not only make donors happy, but also boosts the rate of conversion!
What suggestions can you offer other non-profit organizations involved in the resistance sector regarding the use of technology or data or engagement tools to advance the cause?
ST The goal is particularly in the present to make things accessible and easy as it is to become involved and take actions. Technology, data and tools for digital engagement aid us in this. It is essential to not just be able to reach your existing audience but also to share the message and make your message known to more people. We at the National Women’s Law Center, we strive to achieve this by promoting our presence across all our online platforms. EveryAction offers us the chance to easily include a share button on Facebook or Twitter which makes it simple for users to share their story and take part!
